This is Jake being his usual self. Great photographer (naks!).

Inside

Kai got a flat tire on the way to Bicol so we had to wait for him in their house at Goa while the tire was being patched up in a vulcanizing shop.

Went out and walked around for fresh air. On the other side of the street was this old house with this kid looking out the window. Took me 4-6 shots before I settled for this one. I like the lines of the blinds, the mystery of not revealing his whole face and the irony of a mosquito net on the other half of the window :)

No More

f8.0 1.200 iso100

The sunset in CWC Bicol was a nice ending for a long roadtrip adventure from Goa and back again. I like the lines of the high tension wires and trees leading toward the lower right of the frame --and of course, the golden light sunset brings. Still has to work more with lines though :)

Mechanical

f4.0 1/80 iso80 B&W converted

Last Holy Week when Dred, my friends and I were on our way to Caramoan Island (Bicol), there was this massive tractor parked in the port area which was alienated by the fleet of boats under the hot afternoon sun. It seemed construction work was temporarily put on hold for lunch so we had the chance to take refuge under its shade.

While waiting for our ride towards the other side of the island, I noticed this perfect symmetry of the hydraulics and hoses hovering over my head.
Cute. Took a picture. :)

I later converted the file to black & white because its colors tend to overpower the symmetry that I wanted to capture.

9 Ball

f3.2 1/15 iso400 D-B&W

While we were walking around Serendra, three boys were relaxing on top of these giant balls. I was on the second floor but my camera managed to zoom in just enough to take the shot (one setback of it's 24mm lense is the lack of telephoto capability with just 2.5x zoom, yet still good enough for me). I like the contrast of the architecture's straight lines versus the curves of the balls :)

One of the main reasons I got a compact camera instead of a DSLR is that I can walk around the city without worries (of hold-ups, especially). it's not heavy to carry around, it's discrete (because it looks almost like a toy) and it doesn't need expensive lenses (although the wide, telephoto and fisheye converters are very tempting...maybe next time ΓΌ).

Drought

f2.8 1/320 iso80 Pinhole

I found this dried up water pump in front of Dred's house, under a tree. It amused me because even though it's already dried up, a rusty medium sized drum still waits under its nozzle :)

Here, I used my camera's built in scene setting Pinhole which places a soft vignette on the picture giving it a gloomy feel.

Mango Leaf

f3.2 1/500 iso100 D-B&W

This shot of a fallen leaf from a mango tree was taken the first day I got the lx3. Dred and I just came from the store and I excitedly tinkered with the cam's settings (which is a lot, at least for a beginner like me). I like the bokeh of the macro :)
